The Turtle Plan
Do you have something worthy of a press release? If so, make sure you have patience and wait for slow, non-news days to submit. I know we can not predict high news days, however, we can make sure to wait out disaster news times. Waiting for the best time to get media attention may take patience but it is worth it. Otherwise, you will get buried. Keep on cruising with your other marketing ideas and plans while keeping your eye on the prize….slow (turtle) news days. Don’t know how to write a press release? Contact us. We want to be a part of your success.
Sometimes it is good to remind people that we are only human. If you have goods or services that help people in times of crisis, or even prevent crisis, now is the time to act. Remind everyone that they need a living will, life insurance, and proper homeowners and even renters insurance. And, everyone should have that list of emergency supplies on hand now. Or, think about offering discounts on things people need now if they are recovering from disaster. Don’t raise prices under supply and demand theory. Lower them to get them into your store for that item, and then everything else they need. How can you be helping during these times of need?
With all this leaking in the media, perhaps you can think of a way to make this part of your marketing success. Of course you will do it in a fun way….”Shhh, don’t tell anyone. This Saturday is our Super Sale with deep discounts and a free gift to the first 100 buyers. So don’t tell anyone or you might not be one of the first to score big.”
How do you get media attention without all the negative press?? It’s easy, when you hire a professional. Public relation professionals shine the light on your best side. And, if your bad side happened to get attention first, we spin it back to your best side. Everyone has a story to tell. Let us help you find the best one for you and your business. It’s time for you to be in the spotlight and shine!
If you are a small business, people will not be walking through your door or to your website in droves unless they know about you.
Networking, hand-shaking, and elevator speeches are the key to your success. Honestly, most people don’t enjoy it, but if you want to be known, refered, and patronized, you have to put your best foot first and get out there. There are plenty of things you don’t enjoy doing (like dishes or laundry) but do them because it is necessary. Getting out there – face to face – is just as important.

So you’ve got it all – quality website, marketing materials, products and services – the whole 9 yards. Then you speak to the potential client and lose the sale. How is that possible? Chances are, you make one of 5 critical errors on the phone. See if any of these ring a bell when thinking back on a prospect that went cold:
1. You kept having to clear your throat or excusing a voice that was “tight.”
2. You were so caught up in your practice speech, you had to keep asking them to repeat things they already told you.
3. You never smiled while speaking to them.
to get the next two critical errors… contact us and we’ll give you 10 minutes of over the phone role playing for free!
How many times have you clicked on your email carrier homepage only to be fooled? I have. Most recently, because I was going on a trip, I clicked on “How to avoid extra hotel charges.” It sounded good – right? Wrong! Here is what it said “To avoid mini-bar charges – don’t use the mini bar, bring your own snacks. To avoid parking charges – don’t rent a car, take advantage of public transportation.” And so it went…Really!!
The point is, you need a catch phrase or headline that moves people to action, and then ideally, you will tease them with enough information – proving yourself as the expert, to make them want to contact you.
Know your potential client – impress them, don’t embarrass them.
We can help you make the right impression that moves them to action.
Who cares about social media? Everyone! Yes everyone. Even people who say they don’t care for it all have still checked it out or  inquired about it at some point in time. So the question is…how social are you? At minimum you need a website so people can check you out. Back in the day you used to have to carry around brochures, business cards, and sometimes even glossy color  packets. Whew, and it was expensive. Today your social media marketing is free (and a website can be less than $20 a month). You don’t have to be a writer. All you need is a good idea that you can share with people. Help improve the quality of life for enough people and watch your business grow as the next best thing happens…the referral. Need help getting started? Let me know. That’s why I’m here.
Now that’s some bad advice! In actuality, everything needs maintenance and attention so it doesn’t break. Why wait till it breaks before you do something about it? Take a look at all the areas of your life and give some attention to what appears to be falling apart. And, if everything looks good, then look at what may be antiquated and slowing everything down. Take for example Day-time Dramas, the networks have been feeling the drain of them for years but have only recently been pro-active about it. Today’s viewers want information in an entertaining format. They want something to talk about that makes them look intelligent. The same went for day-time game shows a while back when people finally got tired of watching other people win all the good stuff. Now, the popular game shows invest you more in the contestant so you “feel” better about the win. And so on. What part of your business is slowing you down, not making the profit it once did, or is out dated?
This fall, PBS will have sponsor breaks during their programming – that’s right, DURING. We appreciated and understood the need for corporate sponsors who were (in turn for sponsorship) featured in between programming with very short “ads”. Soon, the “ads” will also fall in during the programs in an effort to keep “free T.V.” afloat and on the air. Do you think they are making a mistake? Selling out? Or just doing what is necessary to keep the doors open? What would you do to keep your business a float?
